Welcome to the Open Campus website for faculty. Teaching online-based classes invites opportunities for creativity, innovation, and integration of technology. It differs, however from traditional classroom instruction
and learning and poses the challenge of actively engaging students who will interact with the instructor, fellow students and course content in alternative ways. Instructors will design courses, assess learning, monitor instructional activities and attendance of students they may never personally meet. The OC is here to provide you with assistance and support in preparing and teaching online-based classes (fully online and hybrid) and web-enhanced on-campus courses. Visit the OC Training, Support, and Resources pages.

Instructors who plan to teach in any mode which requires the use of Blackboard (online, hybrid or web-enhanced) must first complete the RCCD Online Blackboard Academy.  The Academy is self-paced and fully online with 6 modules. In addition to basic instruction on the use of Bb, the Blackboard Academy covers administrative policies and procedures for online instruction, 508 compliance & accessibility, accreditation information, as well as additional district services and resources available for distance education instructors.

You will have one month from the Online Blackboard Academy start date to complete the training.
A reservation is required.
